Frequently Asked Questions

Donating a phone

Once a phone is graded it is sold to our trading partner based on up to date international demand. Over 90% of the phones we receive can be refurbished and reused in an overseas market where there is high demand for low cost handsets. All phones go off shore with the bulk of them going into Asia or the Middle east.

Sustainable living is at the heart of our business ethos. We believe in promoting ways in which we can all recycle for a greener future and reduce the waste entering landfill sites.

At Mobile4Charity we work with all comers from individuals who just want to make sure their phones are recycled to the highest environmental standards, and are happy for any proceeds to go to a worthy charity, to school communities looking to raise money for school projects, through to corporate partners who support charities via donating their own fleet of phones and working with their employees and business partners to gather as many handsets as possible.

If you are not currently involved with one of our charity partners you can either find a donation box from the link on our home page or email us at info@mobile4charity.com.au and we will contact you with some options.

If you are working with one of our charity partners, or wish to, contact them as to their pre arranged collection methods. If you are not sure, just drop us an email and we will be in touch.

All handsets are checked for SIM cards and memory cards. If any are found these are sent in bulk for melt down recycling. All working handsets will be wiped and factory reset. When the handset is commissioned into a new global region and the local firmware is loaded it wipes all data all over again.

No. There is a higher value for working phones but in most cases there is still a value for non working phones. We recycle or refurbish all handsets. NOTHING ends up in landfill which is of great importance.

We will take all types of mobile handsets to avoid them ending up in landfill. However not all phones have a demand in the global market. As a rule of thumb, the more current the model, the greater value you will earn for your charity.

CDMA and Analogue handsets have no value.
